TrueNetTalk is a new service offered by True utilizing VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology to transmit your voice over the Internet. The most basic form of NetTalk communication is that between two computers, both connected to the Internet. In order to use this service, both the caller and call recipient must download and install the NetTalk Softphone software, and have accessories such as either a simple microphone headset, or speaker and desktop microphone.
NetTalk Softphone works by transforming the sound of your voice into data, which is then sent to and received by another user also using the Softphone program. When the recipient receives the data to their computer, the Softphone program then transforms the data back into the sound of your voice, allowing 2 way conversations just like talking on a traditional telephone!

In addition to PC-to-PC applications, NetTalk Softphone also allows users to make voice calls to fixed landlines and mobile phones. In order for this to work, data must be transformed into a different type of data, transmittable via you mobile phone network. This technology allows you to make inexpensive calls from your computer to phone numbers around the world, with the clarity and convenience of a traditional or mobile phone.
